Pub Quiz

A huge big heartfelt Thank You to all of you that came to the charity pub quiz in Mayfair,London to raise money for VMM. You raised a whopping £686!  Your generosity is greatly appreciated.

A thank you also goes out to all the very generous sponsors of our raffle prizes who include Adrian Clarke at Fujifilm UK, Textile Artist Fiona Turley, Adrian Hindmarsh, Unilever, Chris Stroud at Foster’s Wines, Karen Barry and Mick Doyle at the Forever Aloe Vera Company, Cameron Harris at the Flight Centre and our hosts Richard and Johnny at Mulligan's Irish Pub and Oyster Bar.

Well done to all who took part and showed some serious quiz ability.  As a ‘Quiz Mistress’ for the first time I was impressed by those pro quiz members amongst you. I had no idea how serious this business can be!  Hats off to the winning team, 'Universally Challenged' who took home a bottle of champagne each and a big thumbs up to all of you serious contenders for the top slot next time!

Donating:

Volunteers with VMM do not get paid a salary and are supported by a monthly allowance to cover daily living expenses. Accommodation is provided by the partner with whom the volunteer works with.  The allowance is provided by VMM and funded from various sources including grants and the Irish government.

The VMM volunteer is a cost effective way for organisations in Africa to tap into a highly skilled talent pool and close gaps where they would ordinarily not be able to and certainly not afford to.  Without the volunteer it is unlikely that many projects and programmes could exist. Sending volunteers however is a costly business. Apart from a living allowance there are insurance costs and other expenses to cover.

With over one hundred and fifty needy and potential projects on VMM’s books alone and funding for about fifty volunteers overseas at any one time your valuable contribution will ensure that I can stay and live in Africa for two years. It will also ensure that we can send more people to help other identified and needy projects.

As a small Faith based organisation, VMM has a focused strategy and accountability is at the heart of everything they do. Your money will be wisely invested in Africa’s future generations and every penny accounted for.
